okay we're ready the reason we have some parents I think it's another parent is denied who else is there Ann and art Shannon Ray There is a Mist that Roseanne okay so are first our first item on eBay the real cost if you want to just mention your name so we can have it in on the recording that. here I must say now Martinez and I'm the food service director assistant principal Newman Middle School superintendent Walker Karen I think I am representing High School fish during confirmation Africa really good-looking can you remember parents Louisa Franklin Community member programming in Paris thank you I'll talk to everybody so our third item on the agenda is the covid update on this I got the covid update for currently is very low on YouTube we still have some activity maybe 1/2 cases pop up here and there we currently have 11 staff member case but overall activity we didn't see that surge that we thought we may see you after the holidays thank goodness was little activity but nothing like what we endured last time at last year at this time so it's been great we're back to had checks injuries and I want or when you know it's really bad so we we are still offering the testing and we have it in in schools and if we need to we can still test we still currently do and of course at the beginning of the school year offer the flu vaccine and also the booster of the Covey vaccine as well so that like good really good turnout for that and flu activity very low illnesses in general very low at this time and the usual year we see an increase in flu activity but we're not seeing that right now usually buy while time we're like ready to break because we've seen so much going on but it's great right now so I guess my question archaeology here and I know we just got these calendar which was produced year we wanted to really quotes Christmas time to get out then we can meet you see everybody and didn't delete it I don't know that was an I liked I really did like it. That because I mean the previous year we right after the holidays so many kids were sick and I like the calendar as well last night 4th of January Members 1st and they are they going to go fear that with him but the teacher it's tough but I'll bring that up when we start having this conversation one of the other things that they're looking at the calendar and I know I have started the agenda here but people thought we talked about the four-day work week that's been very pop cooler but there's certain things that we have to do legally we just can't say what we're going to do that I mean it has to be part of the the District of innovation plan to visit with the attorney on that as well couple things that we have to do before we can do that we just kind of stay while we're going to do it this year and that's it there's a process that we have to follow and I want to make sure that we can if not then you do community service at Community Field because one of the biggest drawback and that is what you going to do with my child lacks take care that one day my going to pay daycare for 11 days a week instead of so there's a lot of things I'll bring that up once we have a few more meetings on that then you'll hear it read about that to me but it doesn't mean that is that the board would support that either we're not sure you mean we're not care that you could we haven't had that conversation but I had the conversation with them illustrators and authors of the one they have you heard this District going to 4 days why can't we do that let me fill some challenges a lot of a lot of schools are going that direction or the other small rule Community 3A school instead of a 1A School my now time now you're feeling some of some of the schools like art size going to that direction as well so it's getting a little popular to retain teachers to prevent burnout Adam and Hope will cabinets when summer school comes around will have more teachers volunteering to do summer school right now when we don't really care how much and would pay pretty well they're tired they're burned down I don't want to do it so it's really hard to recruit teachers to do that but I think if we have that that might be who might have taken one in summer school really good compared to other districts cuz I have another District then they make so much suffering throughout the year and I'm all for teachers getting paid extra money I get it paying for Adam because of covid you mean trying to recruit teachers to come back and do that we're paying $40 an hour in summer to do that and there's teachers that said you know one of my break I need my mental break time you are recharged. Didn't matter what you paid I'm going to come to do that so maybe they know that there's a lot of conversations going to have that but I'll bring them to the next meeting that we have where we're at on their show me what do you know what the calendar looks like and you know what some possibilities are Infinite Source of Oz that were the four days add in about 20 to 30 minutes a day with a parent show me I don't have fun with it but where I'm originally from that it's one of the victims was Jay caring so I had heard them conversation saying well I don't know if you know where they have like a not Jen but something where kids can still come in at 1 or 4 in Richmond. I think someone would do that about 1 the 10 District I was listening to the extent that they started because of parents wanted that so they started bringing the kids on Friday then within a month or two six. life and she says and then we stay after school and if the parents want to bring their children they can I'm just saying that might be an opportunity for something you might want to talk to on about doing that cuz I see it all the time were there besides Park disability Google there wherever you know and I asked her how that work unless because they usually have a good turnout now okay thanks for because once you open up the program and they have to do a review on that program within that year that there's that we owed so I'm assuming that's why you're putting your stuff on it but I'm still in contact with them so hopefully if I keep putting a little bit of pressure to tell me it's okay go ahead and try it and they will do a review for the okay thank you working with the snap program do you the fact that he resign on Monday and position for personal reasons he came and took me by surprise him either he didn't resign so right now Wilfred in a post in the position and this Friday I'm hoping to we have that name I'm just actually post the position then wait to see how many applicants last year when coach Booker a few years ago when he applied we 44 applicant do we have a lot of applicants right now and so far end up getting two application as soon as coach told me about an hour later I get to me to email so call me it's spread like wildfire people knowing do up your retirement and stuff something don't feel right now currently has who is the acting director he's the interim for until we hire someone to they go by the years is it just an automatic so much for athletic director depends on how many years they have asked if they'd been an athletic director or if they've been in a head coach now they haven't seen the scale will be lower I mean it depends experience based on experience what they have not on the agenda but we don't have those give me to see I'm here if we're going to split that position into two or to keep it at 1 but I mean I wouldn't know what to say that's one Friday will post that position and then we'll know which direction we're going but next time we have this is Brandy still theater might have them come by and you give you an update on what's going on right now the the boys powerlifting if it's a gymnasium we have about 75 kids out there participating we have the girls powerlifting the other day last week and the weight room and now it's kind of low crowded than they if they were about 45 applicants I mean every participant so now we move them out there before me that's the only way we can all the kids so now it's a good turnout we have people got there so if you get a chance this evening you can go out there and watch him perform that's it Mental Health and Social Services I don't think I don't know what else are you have somebody come by and talk to your school counselor about cute campus but actually for the student in the past we've had a pretty good working relationship with spell Texas Roadhouse will they would come to the school and meet with the student but they really want to start building a therapeutic relationship school counselor you you don't have that ability to provide therapy you're looking at you know short-term goals trying to be so short from girl but right now we're really stressing the therapeutic relationship kiddos need we have a ton of kids with anxiety so they needed so that's something we're going to be talking I know they were supposed to be coming to central office to meet with you next year though have you need any additional counter normal years ago law passed that the counters have to serve the students 80% of the time and 20% paperwork I tried arguing that all came to a bad guy I met with a counselor I asked him you know what do you need to get to the comp do we want to make sure you were counting the students so I suggested what about a secretary to take care of all your paperwork until that sounds like a good idea but that was my deal but when I suggested that you on dates a week we had our conversation there were okay Elementary was okay high school they could not I need someone that really know I need a pair of me not have a pair of but I need a full-time employee to help me with the testes to relation Credit Union all the things that come with with High School Scholars good things like that so we were able to hire Miss mummy to help her out on that the other ones were okay with the secretary but now it's come to my attention that that's not working at the middle school we have Internet are piloting the T-top tea assessment so we're testing especially number on every month there's some type of assessment that's going on a lot of activity has really pulled in a lot of dry skin she does do a lot of individual like said short-term goal counseling with our kiddos but we're we have somebody who is 100% of the time counseling small group of some type of counseling whether it be through a classroom lesson weather be through at friendship small group anxiety with friendships anxiety with testing anxiety with teachers I'm just out the roof and we're really looking at safety and I know our school board mister measures in place for safety for our school what are we doing for internal thread and so I thought that was a possibility of a second counselor or what we can do to do able to provide our counselor where they can focus more on 100% of counseling is very difficult for us to support coordinator something like that if we're that habitual would just take care of all the 50 for the other folks. don't know if you're Straight Talk and paperwork and someone help me with it or she mean by down we're looking at that too free up our counselor and so I'm hoping that with that would do that then we'll take a look at the high school I did speak to the high school and they did tell you that they have the resources that they've they're able to help out but I mean personally I'll have to go out there visit with him and see how you can count in Eustis because if we can get them early enough hopefully you know that we could continue that and if they need additional help we will we do reach out to Southwest room standard the problem with that is the parents have to agree and they don't want to take him and that's it and in Ensenada believe it until now they have to drive don't they have to drive all the way into town right mrs. Lopez yes we had such difficulty initially initially 5 minutes 45 minutes 5 minutes yes ma'am I'm sorry I can't see you but you can probably save me yes ma'am I'm about to do late haven't collected like specialist coordinator where they come running ours is that also like one for the whole District or is that like one that would be doing both elementary schools web during the Middle School what is it is it a position or positions it could be positioned at the middle school and that's a reason that me they approached me and we talked about that I did mention the board I will take action on this this Thursday regarding that position but any other principals meetings and let him know there's a need that you have please let me know they know the campus is so if you have any concerns or questions get with your principal first and then they'll relay the message to me to make sure there's a need or if can we share possibly but if we cannot then we'll we'll look at hiring in the a full-time employee for for your school if I want to take what when we get in the board meeting time when that's when you'll hear something some a new position being open and that's when the other friend said was like wait a minute what about my camper come and talk to me have to justify justify what we need that position man that's why I'm hungry lying to me step for the for the principles to come and tell me if they need one but that's what's important to find out what's going on I will just add to you don't have to go through that one hundred percent with deeded you know I would have just talked to her for 2 days everyday because I hear Miss Johnson talking about you seeing xiety level is if we see that too I mean if it starts early so the more we can be more proactive so that's definitely something I'll continue to have that conversation as well with the district's code thank you you have to tell me something okay your family and Community involvement so I think we're going to what is this one like I don't know we do it wouldn't get ready to have it or not I mean I don't it was almost 34 think about things that they were doing what we need is bedtime in the district Tampa status job center one of the things that I think other District social worker you mean that's going to do that but all right so we'll get some kids that I ran across it were between 83 and 9th grade before in school last year for not enrolled in School District 89 players on Madden 17 knowing that they didn't even have internet at home and that's what they are we could try to give him some resources don't go to the TA website but yeah you're right I mean okay take care going to okay thank you walk down if y'all can just Robin to get with you well I mean basically we were we're doing a lot of things at the school you seen the fencing around the the I mean middle school and then directions putting up a fence to add in Channel right now currently rides mrs. Lopez so hopefully I'll be finished we're looking at a safety something similar to this couple days ago on me was it a couple days ago and I think I might Monday they came in and replace these windows he's our bullet-resistant glass now and so we're also putting bullet-resistant film around the Sun Atwell Elementary School and we have the guardian plan which is the Guardians of the staff members allowed to carry gun I know that we put the signs up and in a few minutes spell words on the anybody know when you read this sign is almost implies as if so that was just my thing to put in I get to take the course in it and I do do we use the same size at other schools used for the guardian program it wasn't that we design that ourselves then but I think I don't know I'm somewhere in the was an error on that but yeah I'll probably be more specific on that but it's something that you don't think good at that Mr Ayala I want our board members gave me he's a certified gun instructor and he has helped us a lot because that will cost a lot of money to bring someone in to constantly do the training because we I don't do one train every month we're training and it will continue doing that and just get better as the time go by you have to qualify you have to go to be able to shoot 90% accuracy in order to be a garden you just can if you're a batch you're not allowed to be part of the garden you have to have an attack on a cycle cycle a psychological examination I'm sorry you have to pass that in order to to be able to do that and so do we just a lot of good things are happening now the board considering possibly pass that we can pass safety bond to continue adding that will be decided in tomorrow meeting if we're going to go that direction or not we're going to take a boat on that and we're looking at a small a small Bond just for safety alone just texting so because of some weird activity at the high school parking lot that I brought up to that's what I thought our actually brought it up to me once that it was supposed to park at the high school that don't have a permit and a gentleman's agreement between High School in the wintertime all possible and looked at me and I said this card to have a permit and it was an older gentleman. tell but now we're going to be able to look at that vehicle and my mom Instinct I just listed this look right then you have the other issue just the other day I saw one of our deputies had pulled over a vehicle and it was you who said she was at the high school and when my daughters I don't even put your truck kind of opening yourself condoning what they're now goes. It's just now at the elementary so I'm finally to go back in a dress that because I did tell him we have kids and me that I do not have a light in there parking I seen another District what they do once you implement something like that then they start parking across the street and where you don't and then they walk away and film but no I agree with if they don't have if they don't have the license yet they should not be parsley is it yeah and they was giving warnings to him and warnings things like that but they are up for whatever reason it wasn't me they win gave him a side case and and we did ask him to do that so I'm probably meet I mean I need to visit with a new El Toro the one that we have that from the guy that came from the elementary because I made it and then I'll have this are going to plan to have a meeting with a share of that we're okay with that is no agreement with us but I think it's in the past it has been and nobody had wanted to address that yeah I thought you were inviting that also he is right after I go and I agree on me why have these dumb stickers on it we're not going to bother me that just a waste of time yeah I agree with you on that all dressed and I mean hopefully by next week has certainly been busy me tomorrow but but I I'll have this pair of once I meet with a share to make sure that they give the citation I know you gave him a warning the first time second time they give us I taken the third time I take the car towed the car out of there but I know they had they do that because I don't know why they do that but it's not us and there's no agreement you don't know who I mean what I'm doing this around the camp never if we're still have the same problem with the back and forth and sometimes there may be there for whatever I your pack right there you're not in front of the gym and then they don't let the fact that you don't get mad because I brought that every one of our meetings about that and we in the escrow what they were there and they believe their sorrow and the sheriff was there at that time so they knew that we need to get inside that for some reason they didn't want to see me I can't force him to do it Little People rules because I think one of the guys I think one of the parents complained that while you're there like what there's nowhere to park because those roads are full of students so they did put parcero and watches the kids. I like to be part of that so that you know he can probably give you a better explanation than I could the other countries y'all have any questions in tonight for anything I need to look at mr.
