say something Justin meet yourself thank you okay we're going to go ahead and get started cuz it might be some people coming in go to welcome y'all to our first last school year 2020 122s committee I want to thank you all for being here I've done it before but now I are some of our rules have changed so it little bit more of an official meeting so come here in the next meeting we're going to have to do a code a co-chair and a chairperson and it has to be a parent so just letting you know that I can't I'll do this first meeting between the second meeting it has to be a cold chair and then he would love to do it I'm going to go ahead and do this meeting today and then next to our next meeting then we'll elect a chair and it's okay like I said I want to walk here to our Shack meeting I don't I don't know everybody's face I know some of yall are in the school district but I still don't know so I want to have you all introduce yourselves and I'm going to start with info if y'all would introduce yourselves and if you're a parent Community member or a School employee Timber weikel I love this campus principal Chevron with RV e 2nd grade Ruben Cervantes superintendent Martinez I am a junior at the high school Dragon Story parents former former Travis Walker pairing Julie Walker parent and Community member part of the business. do you have a hospital transportation MP3 Juice Amanda Johnson assistant principal Rachel de Leon Community member. send a message to corporate director so I'll be getting all your information for the shack and all kind of be overseeing the Shacks with his police record is a school health advisory Council and overview and exactly what it is and it's just a school health advisory committee that is appointed by the board some of y'all have already been appointed by the boy and some of y'all will be appointed here come the Monday on the 15th then you the ones that I didn't do the last meeting most of it most of our members have to be parents or community members they can't be School Employees so it's kind of and overseas kind of the community the health portion of it and so that's the reason why they don't want a lot of the employees so if it we couldn't get any parent employees to be on the show the components for the shack our family and Community involvement and nutrition services of physical education help education counseling psychological and social service health services and healthy school environment and health promotion for school staff which is our wellness program and me and Miss Ayala are in charge of the wellness program as well for the school district okay if you have any questions or exactly what the shack is is aware and advisory advisory committee we don't do any policies or anything the only thing we can do is advise the school board on an issue if we have an issue here and we want to make sure we do changes then we could advise the board and it's up to them to accept it as policy or not any questions so we'll go with number 3 covid update and that will be by School of Art District nurse Miss Ayala okay I'm so he'll know covid activity remains ongoing it's not an empty. Increase. Of decrease right now we have 12 student cases quarantine and force Active cases we are all continuing testing at all the campuses for staff and students with consent from the parent it's a great open have on hand so we can identify those that are positive right away the results are in 15 minutes so it doesn't take long for results to come back we're currently in transition of switching into a new method new brand of test if it's a little different set up right now we don't use any sort of machinery and switching to a method of testing it still rapid 15 minutes but we're going to need an analyzer machine so once it's finally put into place on file so we don't have to bother you at this time he will let you know we want to touch your child receive your permission to do so but all the information would be put into place where all will need if you're okay and we can upload your information and get the text, it'll take us instead still working trying to shame with that we're currently still using Finance now method of testing the brand it's a very reliable method every positive that we have received with that test kit we have received a positive PCR which is the most reliable method of testing guidelines very reliable and the tests are reliable as well because funny basically we were under Texas department of an emergency management room to eat a butt that contact has ended TDM has ended our contract with t e a and now tea is going to find a different way and we have to go wanted for vendors that they say and I don't remember all the names of them but we we chose Thermo Fisher because there is a shortage there's a nationwide shortage on finance now we had to choose the vendor that did not supply those cupcakes we can continue with testing not have been a delay. test with them as well wrap it just confirm what you're receiving at home that's the best because I have seen where the student test positive with the quick view test at home and then I get a PCR test done at the laugh and it comes back negative it could be have it could have triggered a positive because of flu strep or something I'm not sure by next now I haven't seen that happen that by next now that tests are really favored but with quite a few I have seen that happen so just follow up with a a test done at the clinic to confirm you receive at home does that answer your question okay in that pretty soon so soon as you get that done any other questions on the covid update PBT summer distribution I'm sure everybody's heard of PBT PBT is for the pandemic Electronics in Which principle which was more like a a help for food basically like food stamps kind of thing but it was given to all students that qualified for free and reduced meals for the started the summer of 20 I'm assuming and I think the first distribution was $250 and then we had another one in June and that was a big one now and 12 a student if you qualify for free and reduced lunch and then we're having an onion 14 it's called the summer PBT and that one is $375 per student any of you Lonestar pargat you get it like a little card like the Lone Star card what was the cost if you qualify for free and reduced-price meals here in this District we're still considered a a district that pays if we're paying District which means that we still if we were in a regular school year we would still charge free and reduced I will say you were a few qualified for Paving but still he would still have to pay for lunch so you refuse do you have to pay your $0.40 for lunch and I know we get compared with other districts Tilly Carrizo their ACP district and a provision to District so they a hundred percent of the students beat free on those District hundred percent of the students got the PBT so they were free energy for everybody because a lot of times we're going to be understanding if you are a Title 1 school that you could you could fall into that category and fill out paperwork to be part of that program on. program is a standalone program we have nothing to do with the school district so we are the money that come in that's what we use to function so we try not to get any money from the school district now the school district say we come out in the end red for like save $100,000 in the school district is responsible to give him that money so we tried to run our program to where I'm at the school district doesn't have to subsidize any of our program I've been lucky for the last 6-7 years we've been in the black so I think right now I think I have about $278,000 in my budget that has been accessed from the years that we've come so that's the reason why we kind of hesitant to go into St-Pierre that provision to they don't take it but we lose all the money that's coming in so it's it's it's a hard decision for the district since we've been all free and been on the summer program disaster when am I clean next year we're going to win in the program for breakfast or lunch so we're looking into that and then possibly suffer as well for students app school programs to instead of a snack and they will have the opportunity to have supper so with those are the things were looking at right now currently we're not paying because of the yeah we're still under that covid address at which we call the summer feeding program so that was a hundred percent of her kids eat free so we still have to pay for the application is if it's free or reduced your page that's the reason why there was a lot of confusion last year with the TBT was because parents were like well I'm not getting charged and I'm not kidding I getting free lunch so I don't have to do an application and that's where the big confusion came in when when came in May that they said they were going to give the PBT again and a lot of the parents didn't have the application on file so by the time that came out it was too late to fill out an application so that was the confusion last year so this year for the summer one they and it's hard cuz it's three entities government entities that have to come together and I don't know if y'all ever work with government entities but they're very hard to come together and to agree on anything so you have the Health and Human Services Commission have ta you have TDA so one would say what we're going to do it this way and then the other one would say no we can't do it this way because that's not my timeline and it was just so much confusion so by any of these kids in the meantime parents tell me that towards me and I was like but anyways for the summer which was $375 per student and they had if you didn't qualify for the other PBT you had to log the 28th to fill out an application with the program to see if you qualify and then you would be eligible to get yours the summer PBT now you got it already the first time then you're going to automatically get it again do you think should start on 11:29 or 11:29 everybody should start getting on that letter that they sent out the first the second time they told you make sure you keep your little card because that car is going to be used again so on 29th and parents that have already qualified for it or going to get it now on the 15th of this month we're going to send out another list of students and those were all students that didn't qualify for it last year but did turn it in at the Mission by the 28th of August and have qualified so that they'll be getting out a notice to them they don't have to do an application like the last time that's everybody else. They will get a notice in the mail saying you qualified for this and you're going to be receiving it and their payments should be coming out on December 11th May the beginning of December mailing December with notices container patient on obtaining a distance so it should be coming out the first week hear what the district but they were home so I said and everything so I thought whatever I was I didn't know what that was so I filled out the application for homeschool but in school and we pay for their lunch every day so I didn't know if that was one of the reasons how I could have qualified but I guess not but they told me no. What happened was we sent out a list from the peins and it dated back in October was the fall submission so the information is October's I'm not mistaken so everybody during that time back and come in May when we turn in the information that was the information they need October's information so if you weren't on that list that we sent out they would send me a letter and I had to verify it the district has to verify it we went through letters like crazy we had emails coming out of one by one and we had come up and say yes they did qualify no they didn't qualify and then we have to send them back to HHS being and they would turn around and say no you don't even though we pay for their lunch every day in Des Moines I don't have nothing right here but like for one household if two I think it's like $500 I'm up here already two weeks or something like that are the current covid funding that we're getting the right now allows for the free lunches for student meals is there an end date and place them where I know you can do it anytime during the year and if you don't follow I stay in September and your you lose your job or you moving to get a different job and you're making less then you can always come back and make another application and if you qualify with their new information and you know will take the new information we don't recommend if you qualify already in September than for you not to fill out another application if you get a job and you make more that's just not the way it works for what I was asking is the current funding that we have in place because the Cove is so that all students right now are currently getting free breakfast and lunch is there a date that one that supposed to stop or we don't know yet okay then coming in July they extended it for this you're so we just say okay Stevie t qualify for it and the reason is because my husband was unemployed at the time and when we were back in for where I was one of the parents who was back and forth with you and the reason being is because my son was work I believe it was gone. I think it was one of my kids they can even like them in the district at all even exist how to be a Wii Spotify you know when I was just kind of worried like where did all his information go so we were one of the ones that were you know qualifies for it has benefited from it and it just goes to say you know every situation is different by what everybody else is getting swole. still finding it took quite a while it took us two months to get her situated in there cuz she has your friends case worker how old is Jay so I quit telling people people that I spoke to she said we're going to start Early Head Start in 2 weeks stay there so much confusion and Thunder. so they will thank you that's just how chaotic I didn't imagine it was for you to have to deal with slime with other people question is if he can play now they still get the benefits but I'm already they're going to get it done for last year they can if they do then if they change the name would depend on the status cuz they are saying there's going to be two more coming out there is no proof that they did send out an application they did have enough to and so we went ahead and approved them but yeah it was it was it was hectic there for a little bit but we got it all taken care of we get everybody's application that we knew we needed to qualify what is an application before the 28th of August so everybody that should have qualified shipped item do you have any questions infidelity questions everybody's okay with it so if y'all have any questions or you hear anybody the 29th they should be coming out to everybody that I already had them and then in December issue to be the new ones that are going to be getting it and it's 7501 thing Pre-K students that are new to this school year do not qualify if there's a Pre-K student and they said when you filled out an application before the 28th they still don't qualify they weren't enrolled in Maine okay okay so that's brings us to our car renting questions if there's anything that y'all want to add are y'all want to meet at actually agenda next time this is where y'all can tell me if y'all have any questions on any other program that we that we oversee y'all can ask it now yes ma'am. Maybe know you can help me out with this children are coming to the district for pre-k Kinder Eggs to bring it to school you don't have vaccinations right we all have to have with whatever vaccination call Texas so you have to live close to the Border yes we are getting more people across from the border who possibly not be vaccinated and not where are price is right now at the border for those children are they allowed mr. Having those vaccinations if they are considered homeless yes School immigration requirements okay I have I have but but does it go back to the school board were they can't allow it or not I got to follow the law so if you look it up all you do is Google school immunization requirements if you're looking at 10 through 12 requirements I got on the second cage I believe it is it will tell you exactly now if if a parent wants to apply for an exemption based on reason the police are confident they have to file for an affidavit we don't have that many students are any increase actually be worth compared to last year with decreasing student enrollment so yes we have and I know that the board's worried about that as well but we haven't had the number so me and him come in yet yet but it's good ready whatever next but now with the cool yes it's always been like that if they can come in without them know when we receive a new student just very good about notifying us at the office if there is a student coming out of space they have to have the innovations that we require here in Texas if you're coming within a school within the state of Texas they have 30 days to give us their records and we want to redo those records we can review and let them know what they need and it has 30 days to obtain you know you're homeless in the states and part is he right that's what I thought does a hot date turn off and that can that can change any bud right now so it is now what you mean but I know that you would think that the state will be especially the unaccompanied minors those are the ones I mean who are they the takeaway so you would think that the state would make him do that so those are the things that the hasn't changed yet until the policy changes and then we'll we'll know a little bit more about that but it's up now and like she said Homeless in the natural we have to go with to be considered homeless like for the school district is not like being homeless home is it seems like you come in and you move in with your in-laws or yeah. You can hangers that you're still considered homeless what does it mean when you don't have a home to live in it just means that you're living with an another appointment with Syria right by High School and they are in the gym or the library when they came for lunch cuz they can't go into the cafeteria after they finished. is complete with in the cafeteria I told it you're not allowed to go back into the cafeteria to eat they have to eat I think it's in the library it's in the gym and what happens if during any time of testing m a t o c u r a c t or I think I'm down if I think they're doing a CT also during the day cuz I thought pick up their lunch and take him to the gym they can be raining again. And they're still not allowed to go into the cafeteria because it's set up for testing I'm just riding up that was physically he knows if they're not usually when they set up for testing they're very separated because they're only allowed a table away it's been so I want that is a principal in in Lambert that's the way it's been for the last you hear that I hope that I can respond I don't know why they do that either me but will visit with the principal find out what's happening the website I'm glad at least you saw it, and I don't even know if not a lot of people bash in the district another piece for some people but do you see it a lot and I just scrolling a nor is there any way that could there possibly and I don't think there is but I'm going to ask anyways like a middle school support group on Facebook where like give your concerns us example the cafeteria or you cancel the parents I guess they do read what other people reading I'm out all about the to let you know one person if they want thing and it needs another and it's a maybe like a possible Facebook page for a new Middle School support group but they can put their concerns or Regal Middle School Middle School Parent Portal I'm not sure what the rules are on Facebook and social media but I do know you know some people do have good intentions to say you know this is my concern and I want to you will have to take him to school so that's why I'm not a good idea you called either me or you called the campus and address your issue we can addresses so we can come in like she said it's better to address it in directly to the administrator because they will have to police the they face I do not like any other comments or questions are y'all is it on any other time in question so we're good we're good okay or next meeting I wasn't sure if y'all wanted to have one in December since it's a lie and it's just two weeks can you please write it so long and are y'all want to wait till January doing or we can have when we are required to have at least four meetings per school year so this is our first winter we still have three more at least you can have more why we can have one every month but I just wanted to bring it up to y'all if y'all wanted it December one or y'all want to wait till January entered a free January Beckley what time and where it's going to be here at the same time but I'll just get y'all give you all the date access school calendar and see what's available if y'all have any questions or anything I thank y'all for coming if y'all have any concerns or y'all want to put on the agenda just email me and I will put them on so y'all can just go with the flow.
