The Cotulla High School Cheerleaders wrapped up their 3-day UCA Cheer Camp on Thursday, June 19, 2025 with an exciting showcase highlighting their energy, teamwork, and school spirit. A total of 22 CHS cheerleaders took the floor to perform a series of cheers using signs and props, a synchronized dance, and a high-energy stunt routine that wowed the crowd.
One of the highlights of this year’s camp was the announcement of the UCA All-American Cheerleaders. Sixteen CHS cheerleaders earned the prestigious title and now have the opportunity to represent Cotulla High School at UCA All-American events during the 2025–2026 school year.
Throughout the camp, the CHS cheerleaders demonstrated dedication, leadership, and enthusiasm. Their efforts were recognized with several UCA awards, spirit sticks, leadership selections, and team choice awards, celebrating both individual and team achievements. Thank you to the cheer moms who worked together to have beautiful personalized cheer bags made for the girls.
This year’s camp theme, "Your Adventure Starts Here," inspired the cheerleaders to come together as a team, step out of their comfort zones, and support one another through each new challenge. As they ended their final day of camp, it was clear that the adventure is just beginning for this spirited and talented group. Congratulations to the CHS cheerleaders and best wishes for a cheertastic year!

Six rising sophomores from Cotulla High School proudly represented the Class of 2028 at the National Hispanic Institute (NHI) Texas Star Great Debate held June 10–15, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. This prestigious leadership conference brought together hundreds of students from across Texas to build confidence, refine communication skills, and cultivate future community leaders.
During the week-long program, the students participated in a series of activities focused on public speaking, critical thinking, and civic engagement. Cotulla High School Seniors Selected for American Legion Texas Boys State
Cotulla High School proudly announces that seniors Paul Gonzalez and Jerome Ramirez have been selected to represent their school and community at the 2025 American Legion Texas Boys State, held June 8–13 at the University of Texas at Austin.
Sponsored by the American Legion Rueben Willson Post #409 of Cotulla, this prestigious program provides a unique opportunity for outstanding young men from across the state to participate in a week-long hands-on experience in civic leadership and government.
Texas Boys State is a nationally acclaimed leadership program where high school juniors develop a deeper understanding of how government works. Participants are grouped into fictional cities and counties, where they organize political parties, hold elections, and run a simulated state government. Throughout the week, delegates campaign for office, write and propose legislation, debate policy, and learn about the responsibilities of citizenship.
The program is designed to inspire future leaders to be engaged, informed citizens. In addition to gaining experience in politics and public service, participants attend lectures from elected officials, judges, and military leaders, while also building friendships with peers from all corners of Texas.
Paul Gonzalez and Jerome Ramirez were selected based on their leadership skills, academic excellence, and commitment to community involvement. Paul Gonzalez is involved in the Mighty Cowboy Band, Athletics, National Honor Society and UIL Academics. He is the son of Norberto Gonzalez and Melissa Ramirez. Jerome Ramirez is involved in Athletics and the National Honor Society. He is the son of Homero Ramirez and Jackie Ramirez. Their participation in Texas Boys State is a proud reflection of their dedication and potential.
Cotulla High School extends its congratulations to Paul and Jerome and expresses gratitude to the American Legion Rueben Willson Post #409 for investing in the future of student leaders. The experience gained at Boys State will undoubtedly empower them to make a positive impact at Cotulla High School, the community, and beyond.
