Mrs. Villanueva earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M University–Kingsville) with a major in Elementary Education and minors in Special Education and Early Childhood. She also holds a Master’s degree in Education from The University of Texas at Brownsville. With her strong background in education, we look forward to the expertise and care she will bring to our students and special education department!

📣 Cotulla ISD is excited to announce Mr. Gabriel Aguilar as our new Secondary Agriculture Teacher! Mr. Aguilar earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Agriculture Science from Texas A&M University–Kingsville. We look forward to the knowledge, energy, and dedication he will bring to our agriculture program and the Cotulla ISD community!

📣 Cotulla ISD is proud to welcome Anna Lopez as the Principal of Frank Newman Middle School! Ms. Lopez has 27 years of experience in education, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Education, both from the University of Texas at San Antonio. We’re excited to have her join our team and look forward to the positive impact she will make on our students, staff, and community!

⭐ Our District Safety & Securities Coordinator, Mrs. Erica Adams, attended the 2025 Texas School Safety Center Conference in San Antonio, Texas! She joined educators and safety leaders from across the state to learn more about emergency planning, school safety protocols, and legal requirements. Highlights included keynote speakers like Officer Jermaine “The Tall Cop” Galloway, Dr. Adolph Brown, “The World’s Greatest Edu-tainer” and Missy Dodds, a survivor of the 2005 Red Lake School Shooting. We're excited for Mrs. Adams to bring back what she learned to help keep our students and staff safe every day!

📣 Cotulla ISD is proud to welcome Cristian Saldivar, as our new Athletic Trainer! Mr. Saldivar earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of the Incarnate Word. We’re excited to have him join our team and look forward to the care, expertise, and support he will bring to our student-athletes and athletic programs.

📣 Cotulla ISD is excited to announce Mrs. San Juanita Sobrevilla as the new Assistant Principal of Frank Newman Middle School! Mrs. Sobrevilla brings 22 years of experience in education and is a proud graduate of Texas A&M International University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in Educational Administration. We look forward to the leadership and dedication she will bring to the students, staff, and families of Frank Newman Middle School!

🎶✨ Opera came to Cotulla ISD this week! On Monday, June 23, summer campers at Ramirez Burks Elementary enjoyed Explore Opera for Kids!, an interactive performance featuring rising stars from OPERA San Antonio’s Young Artist Program. It was a fun and engaging afternoon filled with music, storytelling, and plenty of smiles — a magical introduction to the world of live opera! Thank you to OPERA San Antonio for bringing this unforgettable experience to our students!

📣 Cotulla ISD is pleased to announce Deanna Nava as our new Director of Special Education and Student Support Services! Mrs. Nava is a graduate of Baylor University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. She also holds a Master’s degree in Education from Our Lady of the Lake University. We look forward to her leadership and dedication as she continues to support the academic and personal success of all students in our district.

📣 Cotulla ISD welcomes Erica Adams as our new District Safety and Security Coordinator! A graduate of Texas A&M International University, Mrs. Adams holds a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies, a Master's in Educational Administration, and has also completed her Principalship certification. We look forward to her continued service and leadership in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community.

Cotulla High School Cheerleaders Shine at UCA Camp Showcase For more photos please visit:https://chs.cotullaisd.net/o/chs/page/event-photos The Cotulla High School Cheerleaders wrapped up their 3-day UCA Cheer Camp on Thursday, June 19, 2025 with an exciting showcase highlighting their energy, teamwork, and school spirit. A total of 22 CHS cheerleaders took the floor to perform a series of cheers using signs and props, a synchronized dance, and a high-energy stunt routine that wowed the crowd. One of the highlights of this year’s camp was the announcement of the UCA All-American Cheerleaders. Sixteen CHS cheerleaders earned the prestigious title and now have the opportunity to represent Cotulla High School at UCA All-American events during the 2025–2026 school year. Throughout the camp, the CHS cheerleaders demonstrated dedication, leadership, and enthusiasm. Their efforts were recognized with several UCA awards, spirit sticks, leadership selections, and team choice awards, celebrating both individual and team achievements. Thank you to the cheer moms who worked together to have beautiful personalized cheer bags made for the girls. This year’s camp theme, "Your Adventure Starts Here," inspired the cheerleaders to come together as a team, step out of their comfort zones, and support one another through each new challenge. As they ended their final day of camp, it was clear that the adventure is just beginning for this spirited and talented group.
