To wrap up the school year, 7th grade students in the Career and College Exploration class proudly donned professional attire and participated in mock interviews aligned with their career interests. This culminating event gave students the opportunity to apply everything they’ve learned—from dressing professionally and giving a firm handshake to speaking clearly and sharing their future goals. Interviewers from a wide range of industries volunteered their time, including Mindy Hearn (Child Care / Lazy E Cattle Ranch), Rosario Morales (Victim Services/Investigations), Nelta Jenkins (Finance/Business), Sheriff Ramirez, Kassie Valenzuela, Nadia Del Toro and Lt. Oscar Macias (Law Enforcement), Dr. Ramiro Nava (Education), Mike Whitwell (Professional Sports), Brenda House (Hospitality and Food Service), Alejandro Garcia (Oil Field), Chris Ingram (Real Estate and Coaching), Raymond Mendez (Automotive and HVAC), Benny Castor (Maintenance), Karina Sauceda and Marcus Canales (Hunting/Wild Game/Agriculture), Richard Maldonado (Military), and Timothy Andrea along with La Salle County Firemen (Fire and Rescue). A special thank you to Tyese Perkins, who stepped in as our Veterinarian/Animal Science specialist. This real-world experience was an exciting and empowering way for students to explore future careers and build valuable life skills.
