Congratulations to Mrs. Deena Romero, NMS Science Teacher, on being Cotulla ISD’s Third Six Weeks, Technology Curriculum Integration Initiative Winner. Mrs. Romero integrated technology into her classroom instruction by having students research advantages and disadvantages of renewable and nonrenewable resources on approved source websites. Her class then launched the "Safety Rocks!" program geared specifically towards La Salle County and the oil and natural gas present in our area. Students learned about the formation of oil and natural gas in our area along with some advantages and disadvantages of these resources. It also covered safety measures and facts about La Salle County. Mrs. Romero will receive $400 in technology supplies for her classroom. Superintendent Ruben Cervantes, Federal Programs Director Heather Ramirez, NMS Principal Brenda Jirasek, NMS Assistant Principal Amanda Johnson, Technology Director Joseph Yanez and Instructional Technology Specialist Mindy Oster presented her with a certificate and check.
