Instruction for the 2021-22 School Year

Dear Parents & Guardians,

In preparation for the 2021-22 School Year, the Cotulla ISD Board met in Regular Session and discussed the options for student learning in regards to COVID-19 and Texas Legislation.  After a thorough discussion, the Board of Trustees voted to provide face to face instruction without the option of remote learning for the 2021-22 school year.

This decision was based on the low number of positive COVID cases in LaSalle County.  Another factor was the recent Texas Legislative Session, where lawmakers failed to pass a bill that would have funded schools that chose to offer remote instruction next year.  An Executive Order was also released by the Governor’s Office prohibiting school districts from requiring or mandating mask wearing.

The district will continue our disinfecting and sanitizing procedures to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.  Although masks are no longer mandatory, we invite students and staff to wear them if they choose. We strongly encourage you to keep your child(ren) home if they are having any signs or symptoms of COVID, or if anyone in your home has tested positive for COVID.

Once again, all Cotulla ISD students will be required to attend classes in-person at their respective campus for the 2021-22 School Year.

We will continue to provide updates on state, county and local decisions that will affect your students’ education.  I want to thank you for your continued support throughout these trying times.  Working together will allow us to keep your students’ learning environment safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Ruben V. Cervantes
