GOALS & OBJECTIVES

PROJECT BASED LEARNING

Program Description:

     We are transforming our schools to help our students meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. We must empower our students to be communicators, critical thinkers, collaborators, innovators, and responsible digital citizens. We must address teaching and learning to meet the demands of the digital age. We want the students of Cotulla ISD to be ready to compete in a global environment.

What skills and attributes do we want students to develop in our classes?

     We want our students to have age-appropriately mastered:

         * Digital Citizenship {NETS-S 5}

         * Critical Thinking  {NETS-S 4&3}

         * Collaboration  {NETS-S 2}

         * Communication {NETS-S 2}

         * Creativity {NETS-S 1}

         * Use of Technology {NETS-S 6}

What instructional practices do we want to use in our classes?

    Our goal is to become student-centered in all of our elementary classes. We will use the HEAT Framework to determine the level of higher-order thinking, engagement, authenticity and technology use for all of our lessons. We will encourage teachers to use many different student-centered strategies, but we will begin by primarily learning to develop and implement Project-Based lessons.
