Dear Parents, Cowboys and Cowgirls:
Know it is with great pleasure and excitement that I find myself as Cotulla ISD’s High School Principal for the 2016-17 school year. For many years I have heard friends and associates comment on how warm and friendly the community and students of Cotulla are. I can now attest first-hand that they were all telling the truth. Since our arrival in Cotulla we have had nothing but warmth, congeniality, and many offers of help extended our way and we are very appreciative and thankful for each and every one of them.
For the weeks leading up to the start of school our teachers and staff have been training and working diligently in preparation for the arrival of our students for the new school year. Our administrative and staff teams here at Cotulla High School have done an excellent job of preparing themselves and their classrooms for the advent of the new school year. Now that classes have officially started, I am very pleased to tell you all their hard work and dedication have paid full dividends and our students, your young adults, are in an environment that is safe, conducive to learning and extremely positive in nature.
We recently received the state performance scores concerning the four indexes whereby districts and campuses are qualified by TEA. CHS showed marked improvement in all four parameters measured by TEA as did all campuses in our district. Make no mistake, these successes did not happen by accident. They were hard-earned by our staff and students district-wide. We are extremely pleased and elated in our results as they stand as proof as to what hard work and dedication can bring if we apply the proper thought and work ethic to the problems we may be facing. Rest assured we will continue in this same vein and process to ensure these improvements continue to develop and increase and do not experience a relapse.
Our students are our customers and our staff has devoted themselves to ensuring our young men and women are receiving a quality education in a safe and learner-centered environment. Should you wish to visit our campus, please do not hesitate to stop by the main office, sign-in and see for yourself. We are looking forward to having another exciting and successful year here at CHS and sincerely hope you will join us in supporting and celebrating it with us. Take care, be safe and may God bless you.
Scott Norris, Ed.D.
